9 de jun. de 2020 · Recorded during a visit to New York in 1999, Rielatin' finds Riel leading a team that includes a fellow Dane (bassist Chris Minh Doky) as well as American players Michael Brecker (tenor sax), Jerry Bergonzi (tenor sax), Mike Stern (electric guitar), and Kenny Werner (acoustic piano).
Alex Riel (born 13 September 1940) is a Danish jazz and rock drummer. [1] [2] His first group Alex Riel/ Palle Mikkelborg Quintet won Montreux Grand Prix Award at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1968 and it was published in Billboard 's June 1968 edition. [3] He is married to the writer Ane Riel .

Oficyna STUNT Records wydała właśnie reedycję dwóch jego kultowych albumów "Unriel" z 1997 i "Rielatin'" z 1999. Obie nagrane zostały w gorących latach 90-tych w Nowym Jorku. Na "Unriel" słyszymy Eddiego Gomeza, Jerry'ego Bergonziego, Michaela Breckera, Mike'a Sterna i Nielsa Lan Doky'ego.
14 de dic. de 2023 · It’s played at a brisker pace, and once again, Brecker and Bergonzi play long, powerful solos. Stern and Werner also deliver energizing performances and Riel and Minh Doky keep a steady pulse – it’s a fine band performance. There’s also a splendid eight-minute version of Parker’s ‘Dexterity.’
