John Richard Handy III (born February 3, 1933) is an American jazz musician most commonly associated with the alto saxophone. He also sings and plays the tenor and baritone saxophone, saxello , clarinet , and oboe .

Right Now: Live at the Jazz Workshop is yet another great 1964 set from Charles Mingus's group. The lineup is somewhat unusual for the period. Gone are Eric Dolphy (who would die four weeks after this set in Berlin) and Jaki Byard. In their place are pianist Jane Getz, alto saxophonist John Handy, and tenor saxophonist Clifford Jordan.
