  1. Robert Dundas, 2nd Viscount Melville, KT, PC, FRS (14 March 1771 – 10 June 1851) was a British statesman, the son of Henry Dundas, the 1st Viscount. Dundas was the Member of Parliament for Hastings in 1794, Rye in 1796 and Midlothian in 1801. He was also Keeper of the Signet for Scotland from 1800.

  3. Robert Dundas, 2nd Viscount Melville, was the son of Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville. Dundas was Member of Parliament for Hastings in 1794, Rye in 1796 and Midlothian in 1801. He was also Keeper of the Signet for Scotland from 1800. He was appointed a privy counsellor in 1807, and was chancellor of the University of St Andrews from 1814.

  4. In June 1791 he became home secretary, in the place of Lord Grenville, who had been appointed the secretary for foreign affairs. Dundas's appointment, which was at first merely a provisional one, was confirmed on the refusal of Lord Cornwallis, who was then in India, to accept the post.

  5. Robert Saunders Dundas, second Viscount Melville, statesman, was the only son of Henry Dundas, first viscount Melville, the friend of Pitt. Melville was born on 14 March 1771. He was educated at the Edinburgh High School, and entered parliament when aged twenty-three, in 1794, as M.P. for Hastings.
