James Drummond, 4th Earl of Perth, KT, PC (1648 – 11 May 1716) was a Scottish peer and politician. He was one of the most important landowners in Perthshire, with estates at Drummond Castle near Crieff and at Stobhall north of Perth.

When James VII came to the throne in 1685, James Drummond, 4th Earl of Perth (later 1st Duke of Perth), had converted to the Catholic Faith, as did his brother, the 1st Earl of Melfort. Therefore, during the Jacobite risings, the Clan Drummond were largely supporters of the Jacobite cause and the House of Stuart . [4]

26 de dic. de 2020 · DRUMMOND, JAMES, fourth Earl and first titular Duke of Perth (1648–1716), was elder son of James, third earl, prisoner at the battle of Philiphaugh, 13 Sept. 1645, who died 2 June 1675. His mother, who died 9 Jan. 1656, was Lady Anne Gordon, eldest daughter of George, second marquis of Huntly.
