In 1700 he had married a daughter of Heneage Finch, earl of Aylesford, brother of Daniel Finch, 2nd earl of Nottingham. Aylesford’s other daughter had married in 1703 Robert Benson, later Baron Bingley.

Before this, she was Queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland from 8 March 1702. Anne was born during the reign of her uncle King Charles II.
