His dad was Robert de Brus, 6th Lord of Annandale, who held substantial lands and titles in Scotland, including the lordship of Annandale and estates in Carrick and his mum was Marjorie, Countess of Carrick.

20 de abr. de 2024 · The mix-up is partly that, since arriving in Scotland under the invitation of David I to become Lords of Annandale, the family of de Brus has had 7 family members named Robert Bruce and one William Bruce, all who were Lords of Annandale and therefore Carruthers would have pledged fealty to them all.
