In 1166, Rosamund and Henry II began their affair. However, until 1174, almost no one knew about Rosamund’s relationship with Henry II.
Walter Clifford appears to have been actively campaigning in Wales with Henry II in the early 1160’s, so it is possible that is when the King first encountered ‘Fair Rosamund’.
