Rosamund Clifford, eigentlicher Name Lady Jane de Clifford (* um 1150 auf Clifford Castle in Herefordshire; † 1176 im Kloster von Godstow bei Oxford) war eine Mätresse des englischen König Heinrich II. Sie wurde durch ihre Schönheit auch The Fair Rosamund oder die Rose of the World genannt.

Walter Clifford appears to have been actively campaigning in Wales with Henry II in the early 1160’s, so it is possible that is when the King first encountered ‘Fair Rosamund’. 5 de oct. de 2020 · Likely Rosamund first met King Henry II of England in 1163 when he was staying at Clifford Castle during the military campaign against the Welsh ruler Rhys ap Gruffudd. In 1166, Rosamund and Henry II began their affair. However, until 1174, almost no one knew about Rosamund’s relationship with Henry II.
