2 de abr. de 2024 · Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s famous poem Kubla Khan, composed in 1797, provides the inspiration for the exhibition, “Picturing Xanadu: A Vision in a Dream.” The inspiration for the poem came to Coleridge in a dream. Xanadu was a summer palace built by the Mongolian ruler Kubla Khan. It was an exotic place of pleasure, beauty (and fear).
