The sārangī is a bowed, short-necked three-stringed instrument played in traditional music from South Asia – Punjabi folk music, Rajasthani folk music, Sindhi folk music and Boro folk music (there known as the serja) – in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.
The sarangi is a bowed, stringed instrument with a highly vocal sound and a limited number of able masters. Ustad Sultan Khan is among India's most acclaimed sarangi players, renowned for his extraordinary technical and melodic control over this very difficult instrument.
