Buffalo scout Cheyenne has followed a herd to a nearby watering hole. A rifle shot rings out and the herd stampedes, thwarting his efforts. Lily Lestrade rides up and claims responsibility for the shot but Cheyenne knows it was her brother that spooked the buffalo.

Riding back to the hunting camp, Cheyenne sees his employer, Senator Leland Carr, playing poker with a trio of men. Cheyenne tells the senator that the reason they haven't shot any trophies is because Marshal Al Lestrade is stampeding the animals to keep the senator playing cards.
