Sergei Yakovlevich Efron ( Russian: Сергей Яковлевич Эфрон; 8 October 1893 – 11 September 1941) was a Russian poet, White Army officer, and the husband of fellow poet Marina Tsvetaeva. While in exile, he was recruited by the Soviet NKVD. [1] After returning to the USSR from France, he was executed.

In 1912 Tsvetaeva married Sergei Yakovlevich Efron, who became an officer in the imperial army and, after the Revolution, joined the anti-Bolshevik White Army. Between 1917 and 1922 she wrote the verse cycle Lebeding stan (‘The Encampment of the Swans’), a chronicle of the civil war that eulogizes the counter-revolutionary forces.
