  1. The Sherwood Oaks Film School we all know today started out as an experimental High School in the late 1960s. The high school evolved into an experimental Sherwood Oaks College in the early 70s. As Syd Field, who started his teaching career at Sherwood Oaks, stated: ‘Experimental College’ was a misnomer.

  2. The school came to offer classes on a broad range of filmmaking topics, with lectures from notable Hollywood names. The school changed its name to Sherwood Oaks College in 2010, and to Sherwood Oaks Film School in 2014. Screenwriting teacher Syd Field conducted his first workshop there.
