Silver Lining is an album by the American musician Nils Lofgren, released in 1991. The album peaked at No. 153 on the Billboard 200. "Valentine", featuring harmony vocals by Bruce Springsteen, was the album's first single.

23. Reaching for the Silver Lining. During his youth, Ringo Starr lived in such a state of poverty that he tried to get a job with British Rail simply because they provided their workers with a uniform. Starr’s efforts proved in vain, as he failed the physical examination required for a railway worker.

1989 - Joined "RINGO STARR'S ALL STARR BAND" for the World Tour and resulting live album and video. 1991 - Released the album "SILVER LINING" on Rykodisc during 1991. Included the Top 40 AOR Track "VALENTINE". Appeared on THE TONITE SHOW, DAVID LETTERMAN, and MTV Played over 100 shows in 12 countries during 1991.
Lofgren is supported on the album by the core rhythm section of bassist Kevin McCormick (bassist and producer for Melissa Etheridge) and drummer Andy Newmark, as well as a stellar cast of guest rockers including Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Levon Helm, Billy Preston and Clarence Clemons.
