Sir Edward Seymour, 1st Bt. was born circa 1556. He was the son of Sir Edward Seymour and Margaret Walsh. He married Elizabeth Champernowne, daughter of Sir Arthur Champernowne and Mary Noreys, on 19 September 1576. He died on 11 April 1613. Sir Edward Seymour, 1st Bt. gained the title of 1st Baronet Seymour, of Berry Pomeroy.
Chapter 1: Early Life. The date of Edward’s birth is unknown, but he was either the eldest or second son of Sir John Seymour of Wolf Hall, and Margaret, or Margery, Wentworth. The Seymour family had been solid country gentry for centuries, whilst Margery was a descendant of Edward III, and niece of the Countess of Surrey.
