Siren of the Tropics (1927) Josephine Baker arrived in Paris in 1925 to star in La Revue Nègre, a musical production that showcased the music and culture of African Americans. Baker's spicy dance routines were difficult to categorize: They seemed choreographed in their deliberate steps but spontaneous in the wild abandon in which she performed.
