Solo Piano is an album by American jazz pianist Phineas Newborn Jr. recorded in 1974 and released on the Atlantic label. [1] [2] Reception. The AllMusic review by Scott Yanow states "The set of solo performances faithfully documents the prodigious technique that first gained the pianist recognition in the 1950s.

Newborn created enough interest internationally to work as a solo pianist in Stockholm in 1958 and in Rome the following year. He drew much critical acclaim, for both his leonine technique and meticulously artful playing at any tempo.
