The Southern Ming used a total of there era names, and each of the Southern Ming era names is also listed here. Most emperors before the Ming dynasty used more than two era names during their reigns, until the yī shì yī yuán zhì (一世一元制; lit. "one-era-name-for-a-lifetime system") was established during the Hongwu Emperor's reign.
The Ming Xiaoling ( Chinese: 明孝陵; pinyin: Míng Xiào Líng; lit. ' Filial mausoleum of Ming') is the mausoleum of the Hongwu Emperor, the founder of the Ming dynasty. It lies at the southern foot of Purple Mountain, located east of the historical centre of Nanjing.

These cash coins are typical of the hybrid inscriptions formed by combinations of inappropriate characters. They also have series numbers on the reverse. Note that the radical "釒" is missing from this Wu Zhu (五朱) coin. One variant of the Wu Wu (五五) coin has the Xin dynasty inscription Huo Quan (貨泉) on its reverse.
