Biografía. Kleene obtuvo una licenciatura de Amherst College en 1930. Obtuvo un doctorado. en matemáticas de la Universidad de Princeton en 1934, donde su tesis, titulada A Theory of Positive Integers in Formal Logic, fue supervisada por Alonzo Church.
