The morality of the Homeric texts isn’t simple, and it’s limiting to think of things in black and white terms (i.e., Greek = good xenia, non-Greek = bad xenia). The Laestygonians are somewhat like the Greek polities, so it allows us to think of analogous intra-Greek violations of xenia or to consider the capacity for such violations among the non-monstrous.
