Sunyata & Inner Landscapes contains archival remastered releases from my early career. Sunyata was my debut cassette release in 1982, and documents my most minimal approach, very slow motion trance music which coincided with my early sleep concerts.
Robert Rich (born August 23, 1963) is an ambient musician and composer based in California, United States. With a discography spanning over 30 years, he has been called a figure whose sound has greatly influenced today's ambient music, New-age music, and even IDM.
Rich released his first album Sunyata in 1982. Most of his subsequent recordings came out in Europe until 1989, when Rich began a string of critically acclaimed releases for Fathom/Hearts of Space, including Rainforest (1989), Gaudí (1991), Propagation (1994) and Seven Veils (1998).
Long out of print on the original cassette format, Sunyata is my first commercial release, from June 1982. It has since been re-released on several CD printings, and remains available in combination with the 1985 recording “Inner Landscapes.”

All music composed, performed, produced and recorded by Robert Rich, except "Sunyata (Emptiness)" co-produced and recorded by Ron MacLeod at Studio M in Palo Alto. All tracks remasterd by Robert Rich at Soundscape, Mountain View, in 1993.
