La residencia tradicional de la familia en el centro de Londres era Northumberland House, demolida en 1874.

Jane was summoned to Syon from Chelsea on the morning of 10 July 1553, and was fetched by Dudley's daughter Mary, Lady Sidney. After learning of her elevation to the crown, Jane remained at Syon only one night before taking a barge to the Tower of London on Monday, 10 July 1553, as was customary upon the accession of any new monarch.
