Hace 5 días · The building of the Abbey was started in 1090 and was consecrated in 1121. The inside of the building has massive Norman pillars and the central tower is said to be the finest Norman tower in the World. The Bell Hotel was built around 1696 and probably stands on the monastic hostelry within the Abbey precincts.

This superb place of worship is a must for the visitor who is interested in history and fine buildings. Once the church of the Benedictine Abbey of Tewkesbury it was one of the last monasteries to be destroyed.

It is dominated by its magnificent abbey church of St.Mary the Virgin which has the largest surviving Norman tower in the country at 148ft high.
Hace 4 días · This Jacobean manor is built of local Guiting Yellow stone and was once owned by Tewkesbury Abbey. It’s been lived in by the Tracy family since the 16th century, so doesn’t have a stuffy, museum feel.
