The Broken Horseshoe was the first ever thriller serial aired by the BBC. Made in 1952, it starred John Robinson (who would go on to play the lead in Nigel Kneale's TV series Quatermass II following original actor Reginald Tate's death) and was written by Frances Durbridge.
