The Buckinghams disbanded in 1970, but reformed in 1980. The band's original lineup included Carl Giammarese (lead guitar and vocals), Nick Fortuna (bass), Dennis Miccolis (keyboards), ("Jon-Jon") John Poulos (drums), Curtis Bachman (vocals), and Dennis Tufano (vocals). Bachman departed after the band's first single.

They went on to become one of the top-selling acts of 1967, charting their only five Top 40 hits in the U.S. that year. The band dissolved in 1970, but re-formed in 1980 and as of 2019 they continue to tour throughout the United States.
