Sophie B. Hawkins began to develop her musical talent at the age of nine, taking drum lessons at an East Harlem jazz school. A chance meeting with Marc Cohn while she was waitressing led to a contract with Columbia. She scored an international hit in the summer of 1992 with "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" from her debut full-length Tongues & Tails.
Sophie isn't exactly prolific this is only her 5th in a 20 year career, it came a full 8 years after her last effort Wilderness which in turn took a full 5 years from the awful Timbre it amazes me how music artist these days take years to record anything compared to artist in the past, I mean it's not like the stuff they put out after all these years is amazing!
