The first film version of the novel was made in 1914, but it has since been lost. The Graeae Theatre Company created a musical devised from the book, which was performed at the Oval House Theatre from 1992 to 1993.

Synopsis. In a prologue, author Upton Sinclair describes his methods of researching The Jungle . A panoramic view of the Chicago stockyards is also shown. In the main story, Lithuanian immigrant Jurgis Rudkus arrives in Packingtown and through the efforts of his friend Jokubas, secures a job in the stockyards.
