Production. The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club was made on a non-profit basis through the Orange County PBS station KOCE-TV. It was written and produced by Nick T. Spark and directed by University of Southern California professor Amanda Pope. Dydia DeLyser and Nathan May served as associate producers for the film.
However, a movie focused on her many life’s adventures has yet to be made. A new, award-winning documentary, “The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club” by director Amanda Pope and producer/writer Nick Spark will make its National Television Debut on April 15th, 8:00PM on KOCE-TV PBS Television.
In a 1988 CBS TV biographical movie “Pancho Barnes,” Valerie Bertinelli portrayed her. In mid 2010 a PBS documentary will air nationally titled, “The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club” with the voice of Pancho Barnes played by Academy Award winning actress, Kathy Bates, and narrated by acclaimed actor, Tom Skerritt.
