Biography television series which profiles the life stories of men and women who are 100 years of age and older.
Each 30-minute episode of The Living Century profiles one centenarian. Their memories, unique perceptions of the world and the radical changes they’ve witnessed are brought to life through interviews, family photographs, home movies, archival footage and an original musical score.
Directions: After reading the introduction to The New York Times Magazine article “The Living Century,” respond to the following questions: Why does Steven Johnson choose to open the article by describing the flu epidemic in 1918? After the end of the Great Influenza, the average lifespan doubled.
Coincidentally, I just watched The Living Century. Jack Lemmon is the host of the film and gives such an eloquent and beautiful introduction. This show has so much meaning to me; even more so now.
