11 de ago. de 2007 · Jordan Rudess set himself a virtually impossible task by taking on a set of the greatest prog classics ever recorded. There's a lot of fun, frenetic-paced stuff here which brought a smile to my face more than once, but in the end I can't say a single cover is better than the original, though I applaud the effort and appreciate that each song has been given a new interpretation.

But digging deeper into Rudess' undeniably loving homage reveals not only a talented player/interpreter, but someone who understands the fine line between reverence and mimicry. The majority of the material begins in close approximation, but Rudess' voice gradually emerges, as do a wealth of modern textures.

The Road Home is an album of cover songs by Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess. Among the eight songs he reinterprets are three Yes and two Genesis songs, making this one especially interesting to me.
