Samuel George Davis Jr. (December 8, 1925 – May 16, 1990) was an American singer, actor, comedian and dancer. At age two, Davis began his career in Vaudeville with his father Sammy Davis Sr. and the Will Mastin Trio, which toured nationally, and his film career began in 1933.

The Sammy Davis, Jr. Show premiered on NBC in 1966. Despite all appearances, this is not a ‘soundtrack’ album. It does contain several studio gems, though!
Sammy hosted his own hour-long weekly prime-time network variety show, The Sammy Davis, Jr. Show in 1966 (a milestone for people of color which was incredibly rare at the time). He later hosted his own syndicated talk show, Sammy & Company, from 1975-77.

The Sammy Davis Jr. Show is a 1966 studio album by Sammy Davis Jr., released to coincide with his television show of the same name. The album is collated from five studio sessions from 1961 to 1966. "We Open in Venice" had previously appeared on Reprise Musical Repertory Theatre (1963).
