The Nazz was an American rock band formed in Philadelphia in 1967. The group was founded by guitarist and main songwriter Todd Rundgren and bassist Carson Van Osten. [3] . Drummer Thom Mooney and vocalist/keyboardist Robert "Stewkey" Antoni joined soon after. The group is best known for their debut single "Open My Eyes”, and "Hello It's Me".

Drummer Thom Mooney, who retained possession of the master tapes, was contacted by SGC Records in 1970. When he refused to give over the tapes, saying he did not want the material released, SGC threatened legal action, since the tapes were the property of the label.
Thom Mooney (born January 5, 1948, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, United States) is an American rock drummer. Influenced by the British invasion during the 1960s, Mooney was a founding member of the East Coast rock group Nazz, along with guitarist Todd Rundgren, who later went on to have a successful solo career.
