Thomas Gainsborough Pintor inglés Nació el 14 de mayo de 1727 en Sudbury, Suffolk, Inglaterra. Con quince años se marcha a estudiar dibujo y grabado a Londres con el grabador francés Hubert François Gravelot. Cursó estudios de pintura y tuvo como maestro a Francis Hayman, pintor de temas históricos.
Thomas Gainsborough (Sudbury, 14 mai 1727 - Londres, Royaume de Grande-Bretagne, 2 août 1788) est un artiste peintre, graveur et dessinateur britannique, et l'un des plus célèbres portraitistes et paysagistes de la Grande-Bretagne du XVIII e siècle.
Thomas Gainsborough fue un pintor académico inglés. De hecho, fue él uno de los fundadores de la Royal Academy of Arts. Nacido en Suffolk, Gainsborough se marchó a Londres para estudiar arte donde conoció la moda francesa (el rococó sería su influencia mayor) y empezó a conocer la pintura de paisaje, que desarrollaría con asiduidad aunque no se vendía muy bien.

As a boy, Gainsborough displayed an early talent for drawing and painting, spending much of his childhood sketching in the woods and fields surrounding Sudbury.
