Judith married Thomas Quiney in 1616, and the couple had three sons: Shakespeare Quiney, who died in infancy, and Richard and Thomas, who both died in 1639 within a month of each other. Neither of them married or had children before they died. It is possible to claim a relationship to Shakespeare through his sister, Joan.
Context. Shakespeare's will was made shortly after his daughter Judith was married to Thomas Quiney. He first summoned his lawyer, Francis Collins, in January 1616, shortly before the couple's wedding on 10 February. A draft of the will was made, but not signed. It was soon revealed that Quiney had made a girl called Margaret Wheeler pregnant.
His father, Adrian Quiney, was a colleague of Shakespeare’s father John in Stratford’s Corporation. More than a decade later, on February 10, 1616, Quiney’s third son Thomas married Shakespeare’s younger daughter Judith. Their first child, born nine months later in November 1616, was baptized Shakespeare Quiney.
