Steffens was born in Roermond, Netherlands. At the age of six he moved to Rotterdam. [1] He took both a hairdressing course and an electrical engineering course, but he did not finish either. [2] At eighteen he started dancing and a year later he was accepted at the Codarts. [3] In 2008 he participated in the talent show So You Think You Can Dance.
