Hace 3 días · One thinks immediately of the hobbits who, as Tom Shippey has noted in detail, Tolkien made just about as characteristically English as he could—Bilbo with his tobacco and brass buttons and greedy cousins, Frodo going off to war with his gardener-turned-batman, and the whole Shire with its tavern gossip and detailed genealogies.
Shippey's The Road to Middle-earth can be bought (or, in fact, must be bought), so it is a given it couldn't have been "free use." Shippey is a well-recognized scholarly name, however, so I have no doubt that when he writes a book like this, he may easily secure all the necessary permissions, plus all of the hassle is already in the hands of their agent I assume.
