Traudl Junge (then Humps) was 22 years old and dreamt of a career as a ballerina, until the 'opportunity of her life' beckoned. Adolf Hitler appointed this young secretary to his private office and from 1942 until his death she was at his side in the bunker, typing his correspondence, his speeches and even his last private and political will and testament.
Even though Junge’s own account ends with her emerging from the bunker, Melissa Muller provides an informative and interesting final chapter that picks up where Junge’s writing stopped. This final chapter serves as a biography of Traudl Junge from the war’s end through the 1990s.

Traudl Junge (født Gertraud Humps, 16. marts 1920 i München, død 10. februar 2002 i München) var Adolf Hitlers sidste privatsekretær i tiden 1942 til sammenbruddet i 1945. Hun startede tjenesten i Wolfschanze ved Rastenburg i Østprøjsen og arbejdede med ham både der, i Berchtesgaden og til slut i Førerbunkeren i Berlin .
