Troy Donahue was one of the inspirations for The Simpsons character Troy McClure, along with Doug McClure, and a measure of the character's voice actor Phil Hartman.  Donahue is mentioned in the song "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee", from the 1971 musical Grease , reflecting his status as a teen idol at the time in which the action is set.

Troy's teammates would tell you he was a leader of those great Dallas teams of the '90s. It's fitting that he's the first of that group to enter the Hall of Fame.
