30 de mar. de 2024 · In the year 1234, William II, son of count Floris IV of Holland, became the new count of the regions Holland and Zeeland, i.e. most of West Frisia. In 1248, count William fought against the excommunicated emperor Frederick II and conquered, among other things, the city of Aachen. Curiously, it were Frisians who fought under his banner.

4 de abr. de 2024 · Robert I (born c. 1013—died October 13, 1093, Kassel [Germany]) was the count of Flanders (1071–93), the second son of Count Baldwin V. In 1063 he married Gertrude and became guardian of her son, who had inherited Frisia east of the Scheldt River .

Then the Cirksena dynastie became extinct. The last woman died in 1761. Without much trouble the Prussians then claimed East Frisia. In Aurich is the family mausoleum.
