We Are Idaho's Land-Grant University. We were founded to make a difference. The University of Idaho's role in the state's economic prosperity dates back to our inception. Our research-driven, innovative spirit began in agriculture, engineering and military sciences.
The University of Idaho (U of I, or UIdaho) is a public land-grant research university in Moscow, Idaho. It is the state's land-grant and primary research university, and the lead university in the Idaho Space Grant Consortium. The University of Idaho was the state's sole university for 71 years, until 1963.

The University of Idaho is a land-grant research institution founded in 1889 by a statute of the 15th territorial legislature. Commonly known as the university charter, this statute became part of the state constitution when Idaho was admitted to the Union in 1890.
