In Wikipedia, the biography page of a criminal often uses the same style and form of other regular biographies. However, due to the sensitiveness and uniqueness of their biography, something different needs to be done. Additionally, criminal biographies or sections in articles about the perpetrators of crimes may face unique BLP issues.

Studies have shown that women's biographies often mention family members and life events (marriage, divorce, child-rearing), while men's biographies do not. In part, this is because men's careers have not traditionally been interrupted by children, nor have their names changed if their relationships change.
