  4. 27 de jun. de 2018 · Bentinck, Lord William. Bentinck, Lord William (1774–1839). Soldier and administrator. Bentinck joined Marshal Suwarrof's army in Italy and served with the Austrian forces during the campaigns of 1799 and 1801. In 1803 he became governor of Madras but was recalled after being held responsible for the sepoy mutiny at Velore in July 1806.

  6. 10 de may. de 2024 · William Bentinck, 2nd Duke of Portland. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society and a trustee of the British Museum. In 1734 he married Margaret-Cavendish Harley, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Oxford. She was a great patron of the arts and sciences. He was buried on 8th May 1762 and she on 30th July 1785. Their son William became Prime Minister.
