Sir William Edmonstone, 4th Baronet was the father of Alice Keppel (née Alice Frederica Edmonstone), the great-grandmother of Queen Camilla, wife of King Charles III. Elyssa Edmonstone, daughter of the 7th Baronet, married Archduke Sigismund of Austria, (titular) Grand Duke of Tuscany, in 1999.
Biography. William (Edmonstone) Edmonstone VIIth of Duntreath is a member of Edmonstone Clan. At some date, shortly before 1607, William Edmonstone, together with his brother James, came over to Ulster to join Sir Hugh Montgomery in the Newtownards area. In August 1607 they were granted lands in that area.
Sadly Archibald and Jean Edmonstone's eldest son William was born deaf and dumb, thus precluding his inheritance. He must have been born by 1630, because a letter to Archibald from "A. Hamilton", presumably his father-in-law, dated 22nd May 1630, refers specifically to remedies by "the King's best Doctors" to cure his deafness.
