Hace 15 horas · Thomas Cromwell ( / ˈkrɒmwəl, - wɛl /;  [a] c. 1485 – 28 July 1540), briefly Earl of Essex, was an English lawyer and statesman who served as chief minister to King Henry VIII from 1534 to 1540, when he was beheaded on orders of the king, who later blamed false charges for the execution.
Hace 15 horas · Following his victory at the Battle of Bosworth Field (22 August 1485), he reinforced his position in 1486 by fulfilling his 1483 vow to marry Elizabeth of York, daughter of Edward IV, thus symbolically uniting the former warring factions of Lancaster and York under the new dynasty.

Fitzroy was the illegitimate son of King Henry VIII by his mistress Elizabeth or Bessie Blount, and Mary was the daughter of Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk. They were both fourteen years old.
