  1. Hace 5 días · He died three years later. The ratebooks from 1751 to 1757 show that he was succeeded at No. 12, Downing Street, by Lord Petersham, afterwards Earl of Harrington. William Stanhope, Viscount Petersham, was born in 1719, and succeeded his father as Earl of Harrington in 1756.

In 1377 it was taxed together with Harrington and Thorpe Underwood (PRO, E179/ 155/27–9). During the 15th century the manor passed to two heiresses, probably non-resident.

Hace 1 día · On his death, without issue, in 1760, Elvaston passed to his nephew, William, Earl of Harrington, whose father (younger son of John Stanhope, Esq., who married the coheiress of Agard) had been created an Earl in 1742. Elvastonhall is now the seat of Charles Stanhope, third Earl of Harrington.
