When Walker died in 1931, Mae took over the company until her death in 1945, when she was succeeded by her daughter, A'Lelia Mae Perry Bundles. Death and legacy A'Lelia Walker died on August 17, 1931, of a cerebral hemorrhage brought on by hypertension, the same ailment that led to her mother's death in 1919.
