Cunningham, Andrew Browne, Viscount Cunningham of Hyndhope (1883–1963), naval officer, was born at 42 Grosvenor Square, Rathmines, Dublin, on 7 January 1883, the third of the five children of Daniel John Cunningham (1850–1909), then a professor of anatomy at Trinity College, Dublin, and his wife, Elizabeth Cumming (d. 1926), daughter of the Revd Andrew Browne of Beith, Ayrshire.
