Anhalt-Zerbst was a principality of the Holy Roman Empire ruled by the House of Ascania, with its residence at Zerbst in present-day Saxony-Anhalt. It emerged as a subdivision of the Principality of Anhalt from 1252 until 1396, when it was divided into the principalities of Anhalt-Dessau and Anhalt-Köthen.

Zerbst cuenta con aproximadamente 24.000 habitantes 1 y, unos 467.65 km² ( 180.56 sq mi ), es la quinta ciudad más grande en Alemania por tamaño. La actual área municipal discurre desde el Río Elba, por el suroeste, hasta Fläming y la frontera estatal con Brandeburgo en el nordeste.
