24 de ago. de 2020 · Aston Webb Student Hub. Opened to students from autumn 2015, the new Aston Webb Student Hub sits at the heart of the University campus. The Hub boasts a modern reception with an interactive booking system, an information zone and a suite of one-to-one consultation rooms.
University of Birmingham. Sir Aston Webb, GCVO, CB, RA, FRIBA (22 May 1849 – 21 August 1930) was a British architect who designed the principal facade of Buckingham Palace and the main building of the Victoria and Albert Museum, among other major works around England, many of them in partnership with Ingress Bell.

The vision for the University of Birmingham as ‘a school of universal instruction, not confined to any particular branch of knowledge but taking all knowledge in its province’ is expressed in stone over the main entrance to the Aston Webb building. The nine life-size figures depict great men from the worlds of art, philosophy, science and industry.
16 de feb. de 2012 · When architect Aston Webb devised the University of Birmingham’s masterplan in 1900, it is unlikely that he thought it would take 112 years to finish. Webb came up with a plan consisting of a grand semi-circle of five linked pavilions arranged around an enormous Italianate clock tower.

15 de feb. de 2024 · The nine life-size figures depict great men from the worlds of art, philosophy, science and industry. Each carries an attribute or maintains a pose reflecting their achievement. The frieze was carved in situ by sculptor Henry Pegram and was completed in 1907.
