Hace 5 días · The museum was renamed the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1899, when Queen Victoria laid the cornerstone for the present building, designed by Sir Aston Webb. This structure opened in 1909. Since then the museum’s premises have been modified and extended, partly into adjacent buildings.

The V&A's buildings are a beautiful blend of historical and modern architectural styles and are an integral part of the museum's appeal.

Hace 3 días · In July 1891 the judges followed Waterhouse's advice in choosing the design that had been submitted by Aston Webb, who estimated its cost at £418,673 (Plate 23a; fig. 5 on plan-sheet A in end pocket). The decision was well received by the architectural press.

3 de may. de 2024 · Posted on May 3, 2024. This spring, I conducted conservation treatment on an architectural drawing from the Alexander Architectural Archives . The drawing, by British architect Sir Aston Webb, shows a late-19 th -century renovation of the Church of St. Bartholomew the Great.
